Hi everyone, today I am going to be discussing some nifty options that are available to Philips SpeechMike Premium users, when using it along with Dragon Medical Practice Edition. So grab your new or old SpeechMike and let’s try them out.
The first thing you will need is the Philips Device Control software. This software will allow you to get the most out of your SpeechMike Premium, and you can get it here. Once you have installed the software, we want to navigate to the Application control tab. This tab will allow you to customize the various button on the microphone.
When using the Philips SpeechMike Premium with Dragon Medical Practice Edition, there are some button assignments I have found to be very useful.
The first one I like to setup, is a button tat will open the dictation box. we all love the dictation box and having it at the push of a button is great! First we find the button name in the left hand column. I personally like to assign this function to Function key 1. Now that we have a button picked, we need to set it up.
In order to assign a function we want to click on the ellipsis, in the column to the right of Function Key 1. This brings up the edit operation dialog box. Next we want to click the add button on the right. In the list that follows you wan to select Dragon NaturallySpeaking command and click next. You will then select Show dictation box from the list and then click finish and OK.
There you have it! We have successfully created a new button on our SpeechMike Premium, the only thing left to do is click on the icon in the top left and test that new button out!
In my net blog post I will cover some more advanced button assignments, see you then!
