Today we are going to cover how to import and export your Dragon NaturallySpeaking profile.

This can come in handy if you want to transfer your profile to another computer or to keep a copy of your profile backed up to a USB key.

To  export a User Profile:

  1. Launch Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
  2. On the DragonBar, select “Profile > Manage User Profiles” to open the Manage User Profiles dialog box.
  3. Select the User Profile in the list that you want to export.
  4. Click the “Advanced” button and select “Export“.
  5. Navigate to the folder where you want to store the exported user profile or create a new folder by clicking the “Make New Folder” button and click “OK“.
  6. When a dialog box opens displaying a message indicating the export was successful, click “OK” again.
  7. Click “Close” to close the Manage User Profiles dialog box.
  8. You have successfully exported the user profile. It can be located in the folder you exported to and will be labeled with the profile name.

To import a User Profile:

  1. Launch Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
  2. On the DragonBar, select “Profile > Manage User Profiles” to open the Manage User Profiles dialog box.
  3. Click the “Advanced” button and select “Import” from the menu.
  4. Navigate to the folder where the exported User Profiles are located.
  5. Select the folder in that directory that has the name of the User Profile to import, and click “OK“.
    • Note: If the User Profile already exists, a “User already exists” message appears and asks the user how to proceed.  Either “Overwrite the existing user” or “Import the user with an alternate name”. If you choose to overwrite the existing user, the current profile will be deleted and replaced with the imported profile.  If you choose to import the User Profile and assign it another name, enter the name in the text box provided and click “OK” and click “Close“.
  6. You have now successfully imported the user profile.
